How to Repair a PEX Pipe

To repair a PEX pipe, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the water supply: Before starting the repair, turn off the water supply to the affected area.
  2. Cut out the damaged section: Use a PEX pipe cutter to cut out the damaged section of the pipe. Make sure to cut straight and remove any burrs or rough edges.
  3. Measure and cut a replacement section: Measure the length of the removed section and cut a replacement section of PEX pipe to the same length.
  4. Install fittings: Install a PEX fitting on each end of the replacement section. Use a crimping tool to secure the fittings in place.
  5. Attach the replacement section: Slide the replacement section into place between the two existing sections of PEX pipe. Use the crimping tool to secure the fittings on each end of the replacement section.
  6. Test the repair: Turn the water supply back on and check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, the repair is complete.

Note: Always use the appropriate tools and follow manufacturer instructions when working with PEX pipes. If you are unsure about the repair process, it is best to consult a professional plumber.
