Types Of Compression Fittings

Compression fittings are commonly used in plumbing, gas, and refrigeration systems to join pipes or tubes together. They work by compressing a soft metal ring or ferrule onto the pipe/tube, which creates a tight seal. There are several types of compression fittings available:

Standard Compression Fittings

These fittings consist of three parts- the body, the nut, and the compression ring. They are used to connect two pipes of the same size and can be used with various types of pipe materials, including copper, brass, stainless steel, and plastic.

Push-to-Connect Compression Fittings

These fittings are designed for quick and easy installation without the need for special tools. They feature a simple push-in design that eliminates the need for a nut or ferrule, making them ideal for use in tight spaces.

Flare Fittings

These fittings are used to connect metal pipes and tubes that have flared ends. The flare fitting consists of a flared tube end and a nut that compresses the flare onto the fitting body, creating a tight seal.

Threaded Compression Fittings

These fittings have a threaded end that screws onto the pipe or tube, compressing the ferrule onto the pipe to create a seal. They are commonly used with metal pipes and tubes.

Double Ferrule Compression Fittings

These fittings have two ferrules instead of one, which helps to create a more secure and leak-proof seal. They are commonly used in high-pressure applications, such as in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Single Ferrule Compression Fittings

These fittings have one ferrule that compresses onto the pipe or tube to create a seal. They are commonly used in low-pressure applications, such as in air and water systems.
